Original Chapel Minster
Waves crashing against the shore, the mercilessly scorching sun, the lashing wind – the Chapel Minster flooring collection is inspired by the harsh elements. The unique, slightly weathered appearance of the floorboards and parquet is the result of an intensive coloring process involving no fewer than 17 different steps, mostly carried out by hand. The result is a floor with a distinct structure; a truly exceptional product.
Chapel Minster collection. Unique wood staining process.
Chapel Minster oak floors literally reflect the long-lasting effects of the elements on raw wood. Thanks to expert production methods and the handcrafted work of artisans, oak floors are created that look remarkably like wood that has been exposed to years of wind, rain, and sunlight. Natural wood is perfect for virtually any space, not just residential spaces. Observing interior design trends, we clearly see the powerful return to nature, to something timeless. This is precisely what the floors from the Chapel Minster collection are like, inspired by the effects of weather on raw wood. Floors that so closely resemble a material exposed to the elements make a strong impression. Mother Nature cannot be replicated. However, experienced craftsmen can create floors in just a few weeks that reflect the long-lasting effects of the elements on raw wood.
Japanese wood burning method
Achieving this effect requires considerable labor, based on the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban wood-charring method. This process then requires a dozen or so different steps. Many of these steps are performed manually, but the results are worth every minute, creating floors with a unique texture and color that will intrigue many investors. It's worth noting that the charring technique offers a number of benefits for the wood. Charred oak boards are resistant to moisture, water, fire, rot, and insects. It might seem that wood treated this way would become brittle and weak. Nothing could be further from the truth. This controlled process strengthens the raw material, making it more durable.
Oak floors in intriguing colors
Chapel Minster floors are a collection of oak planks and parquet (arranged in a classic herringbone or chevron pattern) in 10 shades. The palette includes shades of red, warm browns with sun-kissed highlights, and grays—something quite unusual for oak. The secret to achieving these colors lies in the proper processing of the raw material. What does this mean? The surface of Chapel Minster floors, like all Chapel Parket flooring elements, is planed, and no sandpaper is used in the production process. This allows us to preserve, or rather preserve, the natural grain of the wood. Chapel Parket's flooring offering includes over 50 shades, including shades of natural wood and darker tones. The investor will decide which color will best meet their expectations.
Chapel Minster floors are made of engineered oak and are 20mm thick (with a 6mm top layer). Planks and parquets are available in 11 colors and several widths. The floors are compatible with underfloor heating (the thermal conductivity of 20mm-thick elements is 0.118 m²K/W). Due to their layered construction, they are also suitable for high-traffic commercial spaces. All valuable information about underfloor heating (and cooling) is available in the dedicated PRACTICAL INFORMATION tab.
